What is the CIF Number of SBI?

The SBI CIF number stands for Customer Information File Number and is a unique identifier assigned to each account holder, similar to an account number. This 11-digit numeric code is essential as it stores a variety of important information, including personal details, address proof, transaction history, account balances, loans, and more, all in a digital format.

What are the Different Methods to Find the SBI CIF Number?

The State Bank of India offers many ways to check your CIF number. Here, you will learn different methods through which you can find the CIF number of SBI Bank:

1. Through SBI Passbook

Your CIF number is in your bank passbook, typically located at the bottom of the first page.

2. Through SBI Cheque Book

Your CIF number can also be found in your bank's chequebook. It’s usually on the first page.

3. Through SMS

You can retrieve your SBI CIF number by requesting an e-statement on your registered email address. Since the CIF number appears on the account statement, this method is useful when you do not have access to your passbook, cheque book, YONO app or internet banking.

To receive the e-statement, send an SMS from your registered mobile number to 09223588888 in the following format:

ESTMT <space> Account Number <space> 4-Digit Password

Example:

ESTMT 12345678901 1234

The bank will send a password-protected PDF statement to your registered email ID. Open the PDF using the 4-digit password chosen by you. The statement will display your SBI CIF number along with your account details.

Note: The SBI Quick mini-statement service (MSTMT) only provides recent transaction details through SMS and does not display the CIF number.

4. Through Customer Care

Step 1: Call SBI's toll-free customer care numbers 1800 1234 or 1800 2100.

Step 2: Follow the IVR instructions and connect with a customer care executive.

Step 3: Complete the identity verification process by providing the required account details and personal information.
