PAN card update refers to modifying or correcting personal details printed on your Permanent Account Number (PAN) card. This includes changes to your name, date of birth, father’s name, address, mobile number, photo, or signature. The PAN card correction form must be submitted to modify these details in the PAN card.
NSDL e-Gov, renamed Protean eGov Technologies, and the UTIITSL websites are the primary platform for PAN card update online. The PAN correction form can also be downloaded from the Protean eGov portal and submitted to the PAN centre for updation.

Existing PAN cardholders can upgrade to PAN 2.0 for free if there are no changes in their PAN details. If there are changes in PAN details, they must pay a fee of ₹66 to update the details and obtain a new e-PAN 2.0.
If you have applied for a PAN card via the NSDL e-Gov website, then you need to do PAN card correction online by updating PAN details on that website. Follow this step-by-step guide to make NSDL pan card correction online:
Step 1: Visit the Protean PAN website.
Step 2: Select ‘Changes or Correction in Existing PAN Data’ option under ‘PAN Application Type’.
Step 3: Select the ‘Applicant Category’, fill in your name, date of birth/ incorporation/ formation, email ID, mobile number, citizenship (Indian or not), PAN number. Tick the consent, Captcha and tap on ‘Submit’.
Step 4: Once the request is registered, you will receive a Token Number on the email ID. Click on ‘Continue with PAN Application Form’. The token number can be used to access the draft version of the form in case of session timeout.
Step 5: On this screen, you will see three options.
To complete the NSDL pan card correction process online through Aadhaar OTP, select the first option ‘Submit digitally through e-KYC & e-Sign (Paperless)’ for updating your PAN.
Step 6: If you need a new physical copy of the updated PAN card, select yes. Enter the last four digits of your Aadhaar number.
Step 7: Scroll down and update the required details. Remember to tick the relevant box for which correction or update is required. After filling up, click on ‘Next’ to proceed to the page ‘Contact and other details’.
Step 8: Enter the new address or updated mobile number or email and proceed to the next page.
Step 9: Attach the proof document along with a copy of PAN. Fill in the declaration section, attach a copy of your ‘photograph’ and ‘signature’ and click ‘Submit’.
Step 10: You will now see a preview of the form. Enter the first eight digits of your Aadhaar Number and ensure all other details filled in by you are correct.
Step 11: After submitting the PAN card correction form, the payment page will appear. Payment can be done through various payment gateways. After successful payment, you will receive a payment receipt.
Step 12: You will now have to complete the KYC process. Select the check box to accept the terms and conditions and click on ‘Authenticate’.
Step 13: An OTP will be generated and sent to your Aadhaar Registered mobile number. Enter the OTP and submit the online PAN application form. On the next screen, click on ‘continue’ with eSign.
Step 14: Here, accept the terms and conditions by ticking the box. Enter your Aadhaar number and click on ‘Send OTP’. Enter the OTP sent to your Aadhaar Registered mobile number and verify.
You can now download the acknowledgement form. The password to open this file is your date of birth in the format DD/MM/YYYY.
Please note: If you choose the ‘Forward application documents physically’ option, you will have to take a print out of the acknowledgement and send the acknowledgement along with the attachment of the required documents to the following address by post within 15 days of application submission online:

When you have applied for a PAN card on the UTIITSL website, you need to update the PAN card details on the UTIITSL website by following the below process:
Step 1: Visit the UTIITSL website.
Step 2: Select the mode of submission of documents, enter your PAN number, select the PAN card mode and click the ‘Submit’ button.
Step 3: Once the request is registered, you will receive a reference number. Click on ‘OK’.
Step 4: Remember to tick the fields that requires to be updated or corrected. Enter the updated or correct personal details. Click on ‘Next Step’ once the details are entered.
Step 5: Address will be updated as per your Aadhaar card. Enter your contact details and click on ‘Next Step’.
Step 6: Enter the PAN number and verification and click the ‘Next Step’ button.
Step 7: Upload the documents and click the ‘Submit’ button.
Step 8: Verify the details on the form and click on the ‘Make Payment’ button.
Step 9: Select the mode of online payment and make the payment. A success message will be displayed once the payment is successfully made. Take a print out of the form.
You will receive a text message on your registered mobile number when your PAN card is dispatched via post.
