Swasth Bachche, Swasth Bharat

The ‘Swasth Bachche, Swasth Bharat’ programme is an initiative of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS). Under this programme, a physical health and fitness profile card is prepared for more than 12 lakh students studying in Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) schools. The Union Minister of Human Resource Development (HRD), Prakash Javdekar, launched this programme in 2017.

The Swasth Bachche, Swasth Bharat programme emphasises a balanced diet, yoga and daily routine for students. For ensuring quality education, physical fitness must also be a part of schools. The government aims to strengthen the education sector and empower general education by introducing the Swasth Bachche, Swasth Bharat programme in KV schools.

Objectives of the Swasth Bachche, Swasth Bharat Programme

• Inclusive and comprehensive report card for school children covering all age groups and differently-abled children.
• Preparing a report card containing multiple details about the students such as height, time to wake, diet, sleep, playing sports, etc.
• Making teachers, students and parents aware of the importance of good health, fitness and encouraging them to 60 minutes of play each day.
• Imbibing values of Paralympics and Olympics amongst students.
• Bringing back childhood amongst children by making recreational games and physical activities an integral part of the learning process.
• Motivating potent and outstanding performers in various sports and games for excellence.

• Encouraging participation of differently-abled students and motivating such students to prepare and participate in Paralympics.
• Introduction of the ‘FITKVIAN App’ presenting data in the form of report cards of students.

The Swasth Bachche, Swasth Bharat programme intends to create awareness of physical activities amongst school students, teachers and parents. This programme makes physical activities for students a part of their school curriculum and encourages them to participate in sports activities.
