Today, there are a lot of options to transfer funds electronically in India, including IMT (Instant Money Transfer), ECS (Electronic Clearing Services), NEFT (National Electronic Fund Transfer) and UPI (United Payments Interface). However, all of these options have their shortcomings when it comes to bulk fund transfers. That is why Axis Bank, one of the country's largest private banks, offers its customers the RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement) payment option.
This blog will teach you how to carry out transactions using the Axis Bank RTGS form. Learn how to download and fill out this form, as well as the documents required, applicable charges, and more.
Real-time Gross Settlement, or RTGS, is a digital payment system in which funds are transferred between banks on an individual (gross settlement) basis. Transactions are processed and settled individually, as both the payer’s bank and the payee’s bank transfer funds immediately upon receiving instructions.
RTGS is an ideal payment method for bulk and time-sensitive transactions. The lower transaction size is Rs. 2 lakh, while there is no upper cap on the transaction size. RTGS transactions are available 24x7, 365 days a year; however, transactions are settled according to the bank’s timings. Another essential thing to note is that RTGS transactions are final and irreversible.
Like other banks, Axis Bank allows customers and non-customers to carry out online and offline transactions via RTGS. Request an Axis Bank RTGS form or download it online from the bank's official website for offline payments. Then, you need to submit it with payment and the required identification documents to complete the transfer.
Instead of visiting a bank branch, you can download a copy of the Axis Bank RTGS form PDF from the bank’s official website. Here are the steps you should follow:
Submit the duly filled RTGS form at any Axis Bank branch along with a cheque drawn in favour of the beneficiary (if applicable). Ensure you get an acknowledgement slip signed by the bank official.

No specific documents need to be submitted, along with an RTGS form. However, having a copy of the beneficiary's bank passbook helps as you must accurately write down the account number, bank, branch and the beneficiary's name. Moreover, you should have a cheque leaf of the beneficiary for the IFSC code.
Axis Bank may require identification documents such as voter ID, Aadhaar card, PAN card or passport at the time of form submission.

Signatures play a crucial role in authenticating the transaction. Ensure your signature matches the one registered with your Axis Bank account. Any discrepancy may result in the rejection of your form.
While the standard RTGS form is in PDF format, you may not find an Excel version. However, you can create an Excel template based on the PDF form to streamline the filling process.
Axis Bank does not levy any charges for RTGS transactions conducted through its Internet banking services, while specific fees apply for transactions processed at an Axis Bank branch. Inward RTGS transactions are entirely free for all customers.
Outward transactions via digital channels are also free. Still, for transactions conducted through a branch, charges are ₹25 per transaction for amounts between ₹2 lakh and ₹5 lakh and ₹50 per transaction for amounts above ₹5 lakh. Additionally, certain RTGS transactions may be free for customers depending on their account type.
Per the Reserve Bank of India guidelines, RTGS is accessible 24/7 throughout the year, though transaction settlement times depend on individual banks. There is no upper limit on working days between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., and transactions are processed in real time.
Between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., transactions up to ₹ 1 crore are processed on the same day, while amounts above ₹1 crore are settled the next day. For transactions between 11:30 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. on any day, settlement occurs at 2:00 a.m.
On Sundays, 2nd and 4th Saturdays, and bank holidays, RTGS operates 24 hours, with transactions up to ₹ 1 crore settled the same day and the remainder processed the next day.
Real-time Gross Settlement (RTGS) ensures highly secure transfers of huge sums of money nearly instantly from one bank account to another. Moreover, multiple modes of payment, including online and offline modes, are available to individuals and businesses. Axis Bank customers can choose either the online option to transfer funds via net banking or submit an Axis Bank RTGS form to their nearest bank branch to transfer funds physically.
