HDFC Current Account Opening Eligibility

To open and maintain a current account with HDFC Bank, applicants must fall under one or more of the following categories:

HDFC Current Account Opening Documents

The following is a list of documents you need to provide to open an HDFC current account:

  • Identity proof includes a PAN card, Aadhaar card, passport, and driving licence.
  • Address proof like electricity bill, telephone bill, etc.

HDFC Current Account Minimum Balance

For a Regular Current Account, the account holder must maintain an average quarterly balance of ₹10,000. If this balance is not maintained, the bank imposes a penalty of ₹1,500.

  • Account holders can make monthly cash deposits of up to ₹2 lakh without charges. This facility is available at all HDFC Bank branches within the account holder’s city.
  • The account also allows the free issue of pay orders and demand drafts up to ₹1 lakh. A fee of ₹40 applies to drafts or pay orders under ₹50,000, and ₹25 is charged for those between ₹50,000 and ₹1 lakh.
  • HDFC Bank offers free local and inter-city payments and cheque collection services.
  • There are no charges for using the bank’s Internet banking services for funds collection.
  • Payable-at-par cheques are issued free of charge.
  • Once registered, account holders receive updates and InstaAlerts for transactions.
  • Account holders also benefit from internet banking, mobile banking, and phone banking services to track transactions, stop cheque payments, and monitor the status of cheques issued from their accounts.
  • Unlimited cash withdrawals from all HDFC Bank branches are free of charge.

  • The bank’s Cash Management Services (CMS) helps ensure the timely collection of cheques from HDFC Bank and other locations while providing customised transaction reports for enhanced efficiency.

HDFC Current Account Interest Rate

HDFC Bank does not provide interest on current accounts. These accounts are meant for frequent transactions and offer high liquidity, which is why banks generally do not provide interest on them.
