The PM Internship Scheme (PMIS), launched on 3 October 2024, aims to provide one crore paid internships in India's top 500 companies over five years.
It offers hands-on work experience across sectors such as banking, hospitality, energy, manufacturing, and finance, helping youth build practical skills, industry exposure, and better employment opportunities.

The documents required for PM Internship 2026 are as follows:
Step 1: Visit the PM Internship Scheme website.
Step 2: Click on the ‘Youth Registration’ button on the homepage.
Step 3: A pop-up box will appear. Enter your mobile number, tick the confirmation box, and click ‘Submit.’
Step 4: Enter the OTP received from the registered mobile number in the given field and click ‘Submit.’
Step 5: Create a new password for your account, re-enter the password for confirmation, and click ‘Submit.’
Step 1: Visit the PM Internship Scheme website and then log in.
Step 2: After logging in, click on the ‘My Current Status’ tab. Complete your profile by filling in all required sections like eKYC, personal details, contact info, education background, bank details, skills, and languages.
Step 3: Once your profile is complete, click on the ‘Internship Opportunity’ tab. Here, you’ll find a list of all available internships. Use the filter options to narrow down your choices and apply for up to 3 preferred opportunities.
Step 4: When you find an internship of your interest, click on ‘View’ to see the full details about the role.
Step 5: If the internship fits your interests, click the ‘Apply’ button.
Step 6: A confirmation pop-up will appear asking, ‘Are you sure you want to apply for this internship?’ Click ‘Ok’ to proceed.
Step 7: Another pop-up will prompt you with 3 short questions. Enter your answers into the text fields and click ‘Apply.’
Step 8: You’ll then see a declaration and consent form. Tick all the checkboxes and click ‘Submit.’
The application will be forwarded to the participating companies, who will review and shortlist candidates based on qualifications and requirements.
If shortlisted, the applicant may be called for an online interview or an additional assessment round. The final selection depends on your performance and the company’s decision.

Step 2: After logging in, click on the ‘My Current Status’ tab.
Step 3: Here, you can view the list of internships you’ve applied for and track details such as Internship Applied, Offer Received, Offer Accepted, and Waitlisted.
Step 4: Check this section regularly to see if you’ve been awarded an offer or if you’ve been waitlisted for any internship position.
The government launched the PM Internship Scheme mobile app, PMIS, offering features such as Aadhaar-based registration, application for paid internship, personalised dashboards, and real-time alerts to keep students up to date about the latest openings.

Each selected intern will receive a monthly income of ₹9,000 after joining for the entire 12-month internship period. The partner companies will provide ₹900 each month, and the government will pay ₹8,100 through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the intern’s Aadhaar-bank account.
In addition to the monthly income, the Government of India will provide a one-time grant of ₹6,000 to all interns after joining the internship through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
