Budget 2024-25: Three crore more houses will be provided under the PM Awas Yojana in rural and urban areas. Under the PM Awas Yojana Urban 2.0, the housing needs of 1 crore urban middle-class and poor families will be addressed with an investment of Rs.10 lakh crore. This will include the central assistance of Rs.2.2 lakh crore in the next 5 years.
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is a social welfare scheme launched by the Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, in 2015. The government launched this scheme to provide housing at an affordable price to the weaker sections of the society, lower-income group people, urban poor, and rural poor.
The PMAY aims to provide pucca houses with basic amenities such as water supply, toilet, kitchen and electricity to the homeless families and households living in kutcha and dilapidated houses. This scheme involves the construction of around 20 million houses at affordable prices by 2022. It also provides subsidies and loans at low-interest rates to the beneficiaries for the construction of houses.

The people residing in rural areas can apply for PMAY-G by contacting the village ward member or visiting the Gram Panchayat. These authorities will provide the details related to the PMAY application. The individuals need to fill up and submit the PMAY application form to their respective Gram Panchayats.
Individuals residing in urban areas can apply for PMAY-U online by following the below process:
After the completion of the application process under the PMAY, the applicants will receive a reference number. The applicants can use the reference number to track the status of their applications.
The applicants can know if they are selected as PMAY scheme beneficiaries by checking the PMAY list.
