What is Bharatiya Bhasha Pustak Scheme?

The Union Budget 2025-26 introduced the Bharatiya Bhasha Pustak Scheme, an important initiative to digitise Indian-language textbooks. This scheme will offer digital textbooks and educational materials to school and university students to promote regional languages in education.

This scheme will also bridge the language gap by providing digital textbooks in various Indian languages. This will help students understand their subjects better and benefit students from different linguistic backgrounds. This scheme is aligned with the government’s push to integrate technology into education while promoting linguistic diversity.

  • Under this scheme, AI-based tools will be used for voice-assisted learning, translations, and personalised study materials.
  • Under this scheme, existing educational materials are translated into regional languages, original academic content is developed in Indian languages, and higher education is provided in vernacular languages.
