What is Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme?

The Tamil Nadu (TN) Government launched the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai (Kalaignar Scheme for Right of Women), or 1000 Rupees scheme, in Kancheepuram, the hometown of C N Annadurai on his birth anniversary on 15 September 2023.

Under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme, the TN Government provides financial assistance of ₹1,000 every month to the women residents of Tamil Nadu

  • The TN Government will deposit ₹1,000 to the eligible beneficiaries in their bank accounts through a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). 
  • The TN government also issued ATM cards to eligible women to withdraw the allocated amount as needed.

  • The annual household power consumption of the woman should be below 3,600 units.

  • The wives of government employees (both State and Central Government), bank employees, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), income taxpayers, pensioners, professional taxpayers, and elected representatives of local bodies are not eligible for the scheme.

The Tamil Nadu Government 1000 Rupees Scheme application form is not available for direct public online submission. Eligible applicants must submit the application through authorised registration camps, ration shops, or e-Sevai centres. The KMUT portal is used by authorised government officials to process and verify applications.

Tamil Nadu 1000 Rupees Scheme Not Credited 

When the applicants have applied for the 1000 Rupees Scheme, but the amount is not credited, it means that their applications are rejected. The TN Government rejected around 57 lakh Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Application Forms. An SMS will be sent to people whose applications were rejected with the relevant reason for the rejection. 

Applicants whose applications have been rejected can file an appeal within 30 days from the SMS receipt date. Appeals can be made through the e-sevai centre. The Revenue Commissioner will act as the appellate officer. 

How to Reapply for the Tamil Nadu 1000 Rupees Scheme?

Applicants whose Tamil Nadu Government 1000 Rupees Scheme application form was rejected or who could not apply earlier can submit a fresh application through authorised e-Sevai centres or designated government camps.

Reapplication process:

  • Visit the nearest e-Sevai centre or designated ration shop in Tamil Nadu.
  • Submit a fresh application with updated or corrected details.
  • Attach all required documents again for verification.
  • The application will be re-examined by the Revenue Department based on eligibility criteria.
