The Ministry of External Affairs revised passport application fees with effect from 1 July 2026 under the amended Passport Rules. The revised charges apply to fresh passports, passport reissue, Tatkaal applications, replacement of lost or damaged passports, Police Clearance Certificates (PCC), and other passport-related services. Apart from the standard passport application fee, the following additional charges may apply depending on the service selected:

Note: The passport application fee notified by the Ministry of External Affairs includes the standard processing charges for the selected service. Applicants are not required to pay any separate Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) fee or police verification fee in addition to the prescribed passport fee.

You can pay the passport application fee online through the Passport Seva portal after submitting your passport application. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Visit the official Passport Seva portal and log in to your account. If you are a new user, complete the registration process first.
Step 2: Click on 'Apply for Fresh Passport/Reissue of Passport' and complete the online application form.
Step 3: Submit the application to generate your Application Reference Number (ARN).
Step 4: Go to 'View Saved/Submitted Applications', select the application using the ARN, and click 'Pay and Schedule Appointment'.
Step 5: Choose your preferred Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK), select an available appointment slot, and choose the online payment option.
Step 6: Complete the payment using your preferred payment method, such as UPI, net banking, credit card, or debit card.
Step 7: After successful payment, download or print the application receipt containing the ARN and appointment details.
Note: Passport application fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. If the payment status is pending due to a network or bank issue, check the payment status on the Passport Seva portal before attempting another payment.
You can pay the passport application fee offline through an SBI challan generated on the Passport Seva portal. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Log in to the Passport Seva portal and complete the online passport application form.
Step 2: Submit the application to generate the Application Reference Number (ARN).
Step 3: Go to 'View Saved/Submitted Applications', select the application, click 'Pay and Schedule Appointment', and choose the SBI Challan payment option.
Step 4: Download and print the SBI challan, then deposit the applicable passport fee at an authorised State Bank of India (SBI) branch.
Step 5: Wait for the payment to be updated on the Passport Seva portal. This usually takes up to 2 working days.
Step 6: Once the payment status is updated, log in to the Passport Seva portal, select your application, and book an appointment at your preferred Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK).
Step 7: Download or print the application receipt and appointment confirmation for verification at the Passport Seva Kendra.
Note: Passport application fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Appointment booking is available only after the challan payment is successfully reflected on the Passport Seva portal.

Step 1: Visit the official Passport Seva portal and log in using your registered credentials.
Step 2: Click on 'View Saved/Submitted Applications' and select the relevant application.
Step 3: Click on 'Payment and Appointment' and select 'Track Payment Status'.
Step 4: View the payment status for your application. The status will be displayed as Success, Pending, or Failed.
Step 5: If the payment is shown as Pending, click the 'Re-verify Payment' option to refresh the payment status.
Step 6: If the payment remains pending or fails after re-verification, wait until the next working day before attempting another payment. If the amount has been debited but the payment fails, contact your bank or the Passport Seva support for assistance.
