The mPassport Seva is a mobile app launched by the Government of India to offer passport-related services. Here is how to track passport status through the mPassport Seva Mobile App:

Step 1: Install the official Passport Seva App (published by PSP Division - MEA, Govt of India) from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

To check the status of your passport application via SMS, simply text ‘STATUS [15-digit File Number]’ to 9704100100. This method will give a quick update on your application status. 

Note: This is a premium, paid SMS service. Use this service for immediate updates.

ii. Track Passport Status via the National Call Centre 

To monitor passport status, call the citizen service representative at the national call centre on the toll-free number 1800-258-1800 between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. and mention the passport application file number.

Step 2: Visit the official India Post Consignment Tracking Website.

Step 3: Enter the tracking ID under the ‘Consignment Number’ field.

Step 3: Go to ‘Track Consignment’.

Step 4: Enter your tracking ID under ‘Consignment Number’ and then enter the security code displayed.

After a passport application is submitted, the passport office initiates police verification to confirm the applicant's details. The status of the police verification can be checked online by following these steps:

Step 1: Visit the official India Passport Seva website.

Step 2: Click on the 'Track Application Status' option.

Step 3: Select application type, then enter the 15-digit File Number and date of birth.

Step 4: Tap on the 'Track Status' button to check the application status.

Step 5: The screen will update to show the exact stage of your application, highlighting whether the police report is pending, under review, or cleared.
