Tax Loss Harvesting Made Simple
The natural death or disability due to an accident of a primary bread earner in a family results in misery for his/her family with reduced earnings, hardship and excessive medical expenditure relating to the accident. Hence, there is a need to provide disability and death insurance to the primary bread earner of the BPL families towards social security. Thus, the Andhra Pradesh Government introduced the YSR Bima Scheme.
YSR Bima Scheme is a social security scheme launched on 01 July 2021. The nodal agency of this scheme is the Labour Department, and the implementing agency is the GSWS Department. The scheme’s main objective is to give an insurance amount to the bereaved BPL families in the case of death or disability of the primary bread earner of the family to mitigate the sudden financial loss of the primary source of income.
The GSWS Department is the implementing agency for this scheme, and the Director of the GSWS Department will identify the eligible beneficiaries for this scheme using the services of Grama or ward volunteers. Thus, the eligible beneficiaries can contact the Grama or ward volunteers for this scheme or the Director of the GSWS Department to get their name on the beneficiary list.
The Grama, village or ward volunteers will undertake a door-to-door survey and register all primary bread earners belonging to the BPL families in Andhra State and enroll them as beneficiaries under the YSR Bima Scheme.
The GSWS Department will identify the eligible registered members for the scheme, enroll them as members, prepare a database of such members and intimate the nodal agency, i.e. the Labour Department, regarding such enrollment along with the data. A designated officer of the Grama Sachivalayam or Ward Sachivalayam, i.e. Welfare Assistant, is the registering authority under this scheme.
The Labour Department will accept the data provided by the GSWS Department after due validation. The eligible beneficiaries must sign a formal enrolment form and a declaration of good health. The government will provide the master policy and unique identity to each beneficiary. The insured member must appoint one or more nominees to receive the insurance coverage amount after the member’s death. The spouse, children or dependents can be the nominees under this scheme.
The eligible beneficiaries can check their status under this scheme by following the below process:
