FASTag Annual Pass 2026: New Price ₹3,075, Eligible Highways, Activation & Key Updates

FASTag Annual Pass is a new toll payment option introduced by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, vans, and jeeps. The pass is priced at ₹3,075 and allows seamless travel for one year or up to 200 trips, whichever is earlier. It is linked to an active FASTag for quick and hassle-free activation.

• The new price ₹3,075 for FASTag Annual Pass, will be effective April 1, 2026.

FASTag New Rules

On 18 June 2025, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways announced a FASTag-based annual pass designed exclusively for non-commercial private vehicles such as vans, cars and jeeps. However, this pass is not issued for commercial vehicles.

• The pass is valid for a year from its activation or up to 200 trips in a year, whichever comes first. 
• The FASTag annual pass will provide commuters with hassle-free highway travel without restrictions on National Highways (NH) and National Expressways (NE) throughout the year. 
• Two payment options:
  Annual Pass: ₹3,075 fixed access of up to 200 toll crossings within one year.
  Distance-based: ₹50 per 100 km.

The FASTag annual pass aims to offer uninterrupted, seamless, and cost-effective travel for vehicle owners. It eliminates the need for frequent FASTag top-ups and enhances the driving experience across India’s national road network.

How Does FASTag Annual Pass Work?

• To use the FASTag annual pass, a vehicle must already have an active FASTag linked to its Vehicle Registration Number (VRN).
• Once activated, toll deductions for NH and NE will be covered under the annual pass, without additional charges, until 200 trips are completed, or 1 year from activation date, whichever comes first.

When the validity of the annual pass expires, users can repurchase it normally with ₹3,075 to enjoy uninterupted services.

FASTag Annual Pass Eligibility Criteria

The people meeting these conditions can apply for FASTag annual pass:

• The vehicle should have an active FASTag installed on its windshield.
• The FASTag must be linked with the Vehicle Registration Number (VRN).
• The FASTag should not be flagged for any disputes or blacklisted.

FASTag Annual Pass Eligible Highways

The FASTag annual pass can be used to pay the fee plazas only at the National Highway (NH) and Expressways. On other motorways, State Highways (SH), and other fee plaza locations governed by state governments, the toll fees will be paid from the regular FASTag account.

How will Toll Crossing be Counted?

For the FASTag annual pass, the following will be counted as one crossing:

• In a closed toll fee plaza: A complete round trip through the toll plaza will be counted as one crossing in a closed toll fee plaza (where both the entry and exit are recorded).
• In a point-based fee plaza: Each crossing of a fee plaza is counted as one crossing and round trips are counted as two trips.

This rule will prevent disputes of double charges and promote fair usage tracking.  

Who can Use FASTag Annual Toll Pass?

People who are already having a FASTag can use the FASTag annual toll pass. The FASTag annual pass can be used only for non-commercial private vehicles, such as jeeps, cars, and vans. 

Commercial vehicles, such as buses, trucks, and taxis, cannot apply for the FASTag annual pass. People who regularly travel through cities or who frequently visit their hometowns will benefit from the FASTag annual pass. 

Where and How to Buy FASTag Annual Pass?

The FASTag Annual Pass can be purchased online from 15 August, 2025 through:

• The Rajmarg Yatra App
• The NHAI website

Steps to Buy:

• Ensure your FASTag is active and linked to your Vehicle Registration Number (VRN).
• Log in to the Rajmarg Yatra App or NHAI website using your mobile number.
• Enter your FASTag ID and vehicle details.
• Pay the one-time annual fee of ₹3,075 through digital payment options.
• Once verified, the pass is activated within 2 hours, and you’ll receive an SMS confirmation.

How to Activate FASTag Annual Pass?

The government will launch a dedicated link to activate and renew the FASTag annual pass on the Rajmarg Yatra App and the official websites of NHAI and MoRTH. 

The FASTag annual pass will get activated after verification of the vehicle eligibility. The user must pay ₹3,075 for the base year, i.e., 2026-27 to activate the pass. After the payment, it will be activated on the registered FASTag within two hours.

Validity of FASTag Annual Pass

Once the FASTag annual pass is activated, it is valid for one year or up to 200 trips in a year, whichever comes first. After 200 trips are completed or one year from the pass activation date, users can reactivate it.

How to Download FASTag Statement? 

Here's how you can download FASTag statement:

• Log in to your FASTag account on the issuer's website or app. 
• Navigate to the ‘Statement’, ‘View Statement’ or ‘Transaction History’ section. 
• Select the desired date range. 
• Click on ‘Download’ to download the statement. 

FASTag Annual Pass Toll Road Savings

The FASTag annual pass covers a maximum of 200 toll transactions or will be active for one year from the date of activation, whichever comes first. The current average toll fees per trip incurs a fee of roughly ₹70 to ₹80. With the FASTag annual pass, the effective toll per trip will be ₹15 to ₹20. 

Thus, a vehicle using the FASTag annual pass for 200 trips will save nearly 80% cost on toll payments, or approximately save ₹55 to ₹65 per trip. This discount vehicles receive when they use the FASTag annual pass makes it an attractive option for daily commuters and regular travellers, resulting in a higher adoption rate amongst private vehicle users.

FASTag Annual Pass Issues

Since its announcement, some users have faced glitches while purchasing or using the FASTag Annual Pass. According to NHAI updates, these issues include:

• Failed Recharge Attempts: Payment gets debited but the pass is not activated.
• Wrong Deductions: Toll charges are deducted from the linked FASTag balance despite having an active annual pass.
• Delayed Activation: In some cases, activation takes longer than the promised 2 hours.
• System Sync Errors: Pass activation not reflecting properly at certain toll plazas.

NHAI has confirmed these are technical issues and is working on resolving them.
