How to Apply for Ration Card in Gujarat?

The Gujarat government allows residents to apply for a ration card both online and offline. The steps for online application of ration card are as follows:

Step 1: Navigate to the Digital Gujarat website.

Step 2: Click on the ‘Service’ tab and select the ‘Citizen Services’ option. 

Step 3: Choose ‘Application for New Ration Card’ from the available options.

Step 4: Go through the guidelines and arrange all the necessary documents for the application of a ration card.

Step 5: Once done, click on the ‘Apply online’ button.

Step 6: Login by entering your credentials or click on ‘New Registration (Citizen)’ and register yourself to login and apply for a ration card.

Step 7: Once logged in, enter the required details on the ration card application form. 

Step 8: Upload the required documents and click ‘Submit’.

You can also opt for the offline application to apply for a ration card by following the steps below:

Step 1: Visit your nearest Taluka Mamlatdar Office or Jan Seva Kendra.

Step 2: Request the officials for an application form for a new ration card. (Form 2)

Step 3: Fill out the application form accurately.

Step 4: Attach the necessary documents and submit the application form.

Types of Ration Cards in Gujarat

The Gujarat Government issues different types of ration card based on a household's eligibility under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and applicable state guidelines.

I. Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) Ration Card

The AAY ration card is issued to the poorest and most vulnerable households identified by the Government. Eligible families receive food grains at highly subsidised rates through the Public Distribution System.

II. Priority Household (PHH) Ration Card

The PHH ration card is issued to households covered under the National Food Security Act. Beneficiaries receive subsidised food grains and other notified commodities through the Public Distribution System.

III. Non-Priority Household (NPH) Ration Card

The Non-Priority Household (NPH) ration card is issued to households that are not covered under the priority categories. These cards primarily serve as household identity records for ration-related services and may not carry subsidised food grain entitlements under the NFSA.

Eligibility Criteria for Ration Card in Gujarat

Applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

• Must be a permanent resident of Gujarat.

Applicants can track the status of their ration card application through the Digital Gujarat portal.

Step 1: Visit the Digital Gujarat website.

Step 2: Log in using your registered credentials.

Step 3: Open the Track Application Status service.

Step 4: Enter the application number and submit.

Step 5: The latest application status will be displayed.

Gujarat Ration Card Download

Eligible beneficiaries can download their Gujarat e-Ration Card online through DigiLocker after it has been issued by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department.

Step 1: Visit the DigiLocker website or open the DigiLocker mobile app.

Step 2: Sign in using your registered mobile number. New users can create an account by completing the OTP verification process.

Step 3: Search for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Government of Gujarat.

Step 4: Select the Ration Card service.

Step 5: Enter the required details, such as your ration card number or other requested information, and complete the verification process.

Step 6: Once verified, the Gujarat e-Ration Card will be available under Issued Documents, where it can be viewed or downloaded as a PDF for future use.

How to Add and Remove Name from Ration Card in Gujarat?

The steps to add a name to the ration card Gujarat are as follows:

Step 1: Navigate to the Digital Gujarat website.

Step 2: Click on the ‘Service’ tab and select the ‘Citizen Services’ option. 

Step 3: Choose ‘Addition of Name in Ration Card’ from the available options.
