Types of Ration Cards in Gujarat

The ration cards available in Gujarat are segregated based on the income levels of the residents. These types of ration cards include:

  • Priority House Hold (PPH) Ration Card: This ration card is issued to families identified as priority households under the National Food Security Act, 2013 by the government. 
  • Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) Ration Card: This ration card is only given to the poorest of the poor families.
  • State Below Poverty Line (BPL) Ration Card: This type of ration card is eligible for people whose income is below the poverty line, i.e., whose average per capita monthly income is less than Rs.501 for urban areas and less than Rs.324 for rural areas. 

Based on these ration card types, the cardholders become eligible to receive the type and amount of food grains under the PDS system.

With the advancement in technology, it has become simpler than before to check the ration card list. The steps for checking the beneficiary list of the ration card are as follows:

Step 1: Visit the IPDS Gujarat website.

Step 2: Select the year and month, enter the captcha code and click ‘Go’.

Step 3: Click on the district or taluk and town.  

Step 4: Click on the number below the respective ration card.

Step 5: The ration card list will be displayed.

How to Apply for Ration Card in Gujarat?

The Gujarat government allows residents to apply for a ration card both online and offline. The steps for online application of ration card are as follows:

Step 1: Navigate to the Digital Gujarat website.

Step 2: Click on the ‘Service’ tab and select the ‘Citizen Services’ option. 

Step 3: Choose ‘Application for New Ration Card’ from the available options.

Step 4: Go through the guidelines and arrange all the necessary documents for the application of a ration card.

Step 5: Once done, click on the ‘Apply online’ button.

Step 6: Login by entering your credentials or click on ‘New Registration (Citizen)’ and register yourself to login and apply for a ration card.

Step 7: Once logged in, enter the required details on the ration card application form. 

Step 8: Upload the required documents and click ‘Submit’.

You can also opt for the offline application to apply for a ration card by following the steps below:

Step 1: Visit your nearest Taluka Mamlatdar Office or Jan Seva Kendra.

Step 2: Request the officials for an application form for a new ration card. (Form 2)

Step 3: Fill out the application form accurately.

Step 4: Attach the necessary documents and submit the application form.

The respective officer will conduct the necessary verifications and send the ration card to your home. 

Eligibility Criteria for Ration Card in Gujarat

The applicant must fulfil certain criteria to apply for a ration card in Gujarat. These include:

  • They must be a permanent resident of Gujarat.
  • The applicant must be above 18 years of age. 
  • It is essential to belong to a socially and economically weaker section of society.
  • Applicants who are homeless or own a house with plastic/ polythene walls or own a house with one room or less with walls made of grass, bamboo, dung, mud brick or wood.
  • Applicants must not have income from any source or when the family members are daily wage workers or drivers of three-wheeled mechanical vehicles with income less than Rs.10,000. 
  • The family must not own a mechanically propelled 4-wheeled vehicle or above five acres of irrigated land.
  • Any family member must not be a government employee or pay income/ business tax.
  • Any family member must not have a monthly income of more than Rs.10,000.

After the Gujarat ration card has been approved, the applicant can easily download it and take a printout of it. Follow these steps to download Gujarat ration card:

Step 1: Visit the official DigiLocker website to access your digital ration card.

Step 2: If you are a new user, sign up by providing your name, mobile number, and date of birth, etc., and confirm via OTP. If you already have an account, simply log in.

Step 3: After logging in, type ‘Food and Civil Supplies Department, Gujarat’ in the search bar and click on ‘Search’.

Step 4: Click on the ‘Food and Civil Supplies Department, Gujarat’ tab and then on ‘Ration Card’ option.

Step 5: Enter your ration card number and district. Click on ‘Get Document’ to access your card.

Step 6: Your e-Ration Card will appear in the ‘Issued Documents’ section. Click on download icon to download the PDF of your ration card. 

How to Add and Remove Name from Ration Card in Gujarat?

The steps to add a name to the ration card in Gujarat are as follows:

Step 1: Navigate to the Digital Gujarat website.

Step 2: Click on the ‘Service’ tab and select the ‘Citizen Services’ option. 

Step 3: Choose ‘Addition of Name in Ration Card’ from the available options.

Step 4: Go through the guidelines and arrange all the necessary documents for the application of a ration card.

Step 5: Once done, click on the ‘Apply online’ button.

Step 6: Login by entering your credentials and enter the required details of the member to be added to the ration card. 

Step 7: Upload the required documents and click ‘Submit’.

The steps to remove a name from the ration card in Gujarat are as follows:

Step 1: Navigate to the Digital Gujarat website.

Step 3: Choose ‘Removal of Name in Ration Card’ from the available options.

Step 4: Go through the guidelines and arrange all the necessary documents for the application of a ration card.

Step 6: Login by entering your credentials and enter the required details to remove member from the ration card.
