How to Calculate Stamp Duty in Gujarat? 

The calculation of stamp duty in Gujarat depends on the property type and value. A flat stamp duty rate of 4.9% needs to be paid for male buyers while female buyers get a concession on stamp duty. This percentage is based on the whole value of the property. 

For instance, if a property's market value is Rs. 60,00,000 and the stamp duty will be 4.9% of the property value. Thus, stamp duty will be 2,94,000 (60,00,000 x 4.9%) and the registration charges will be 1% of 60,00,000 = 60,000. Thus, the total charges will be 3,54,000 (2,94,000 + 60,000).

How to Pay Stamp Duty in Gujarat?

There are two primary ways to pay stamp duty in Gujarat - online and offline. 

By Online Method

  • Visit the Gujarat Revenue Department website.
  • Register yourself on the website and log in to your account.
  • Choose the option which states stamp duty and registration charges payment.
  • Upload all the required information, such as transaction value and property specifics.
  • Now, attach a photocopy of the necessary documents.
  • Next, you need to pay the registration fees online using debit/credit cards, net banking, or whatever method you prefer.
  • After you are done with the above steps, download the receipt of payment and acknowledgement form.

By Offline Method

  • Visit the local office of your sub-registrar.
  • Then fill up all of the required forms regarding stamp duty and registration charges.
  • Provide all of the necessary documents, such as identification proofs and sales deeds.
  • Pay up the charges at a dedicated counter either by cheque, cash or demand draft - whichever method you prefer the most.
  • Finally, the receipt of payment and acknowledgement form will be collected.
