  • The comparatively lower GST collections in August 2025 were attributed to the monsoon-driven lower demand for products and services.
  • With the GST rate rationalization now implemented post the 56th GST Council meeting, consumer sentiment has turned positive, and spending that was earlier deferred is expected to pick up pace in the festive and subsequent months.
  • Since the GST rate rationalization came into effect on 22nd September 2025, there has been a visible uptick in consumption, which in turn has led to higher GST collections.
  • Businesses and households, which had adopted a cautious approach ahead of the reforms, are likely to increase consumption and investments, providing a boost to GST collections in the coming quarters.
