HDFC Bank offers several categories of debit cards to customers. These debit cards come with specific charges applicable, such as annual fees, declined transactions charges and cash withdrawals.

*HDFC provides debit cards for free to HNW customers as long as the customer is a part of the respective program.  

HDFC Debit Card Declined Transaction Charges

If there is insufficient balance, HDFC Bank charges a declined transactions fees in the cases where transactions are declined at other bank ATMs located anywhere in the world. It is also applicable to any merchant outlet or website operating outside India. The declined transaction charge in this case is Rs. 25, along with applicable taxes for each transaction. 

HDFC Debit Card Unlimited Free Transactions

HDFC Bank provides transaction limits at ATMs for different account holders. HDFC Bank provides unlimited free transactions for a few account while it imposes a transaction limit on other account types. It charges a withdrawal fee for withdrawals beyond the free limits.

HDFC Debit Card Withdrawal Charges

HDFC Bank provides provides a limit on ATM withdrawal transactions for each type of account. The cash withdrawal charges from an ATM beyond the free limits is Rs. 21 per transaction with taxes for each transaction. 

HDFC Debit Card Charges Per Transaction

The transaction charges applicable for HDFC debit cards at respective ATMs are free when done within the prescribed limits. However, the transaction changes beyond the free prescribed limit for each account type is Rs. 21 per transaction.

HDFC Debit Card Charges for Salary Account

HDFC Bank charges the general debit card charges and debit card charges per year (as provided above) for the salary account. These account holders also have to pay a withdrawal fee for cash withdrawals at ATM of Rs. 21 + taxes beyond the free transaction limits and pay fees for non-fincnacial transactions of Rs. 8.50 + taxes at ATMs beyond the free limits. 

HDFC Bank provides 5 free transactions at home ATMs and Non-Metro ATMs for salary account and 3 free transactions at Metro ATMs.

HDFC Debit Card Charges for Savings Account

HDFC Bank charges the general debit card charges and debit card charges per year (as provided above) for the savings account. These account holders also have to pay a withdrawal fee for cash withdrawals at ATM of Rs. 21 + taxes beyond the free transaction limits and pay fees for non-fincnacial transactions of Rs. 8.50 + taxes at ATMs beyond the free limits. 

HDFC Bank provides 5 free transactions at home ATMs and Non-Metro ATMs for salary account and 3 free transactions at Metro ATMs.

HDFC Debit Card Charges for Senior Citizens

The HDFC Bank debit card charges and benefits applicable to senior citizens are as follows:

  • Senior citizens with HDFC Bank accounts are provided a Free Rewards International debit card with cash withdrawal Rs. 50,000 per day and with a shopping limit of Rs. 3.5 lakh per day
  • If the first applicant is a new customer and is a woman, the bank offers a special Free Woman's Advantage debit card. This is however applicable for withdrawal of cash of up to Rs. 25,000 per day with a shopping limit of Rs. 2.75 lakh each day. 

Apart from these cards, the senior citizens will have to pay the applicable charges for any other type of debit cards availed by them (charges are provided above).

HDFC Debit Card Charges for International Usage

HDFC Bank provides international usage for debit cards, enabling a seamless transaction process abroad. These transactions however are associated with specific charges that also include foreign transaction fees, ATM withdrawal charges, fees for conversion of currency, and more.

HDFC Debit Card Charges Reversal 

HDFC Bank debit card charges can be reversed by filling out the online dispute form. You can also contact the respective customer care. Here is the process to fill up the dispute form online and get back debit card charges:

  • Visit the HDFC Bank official portal and open the online dispute form.
  • Enter your 10-digit contact number and provide the OTP.
  • Choose your type of product, i.e. credit/debit/prepaid card.
  • Provide the last 4 digits of your card.
  • Type your merchant/beneficiary name.
  • Choose the disputed transaction date (within the last 60 days).
  • Provide the reason for dispute and other details in the text box.
  • Click on the submit button and the main reason for dispute will be reported.

It is necessary to be aware of the withdrawal and transaction decline charges to allow customers to use cards efficiently. Maintaining track of free transaction limits and keeping a sufficient balance on debit cards is also of utmost importance to prevent extra fees.
