It is recommended that you stick to ECS and NACH facilities rather than transferring money from your savings account to your home loan account manually on a monthly basis. When you make a manual money transfer, the bank may misunderstand that you are making a prepayment towards the loan. Therefore, you need to keep the bank informed before making such a manual transfer only if there is an error in the automated EMI payment system.
In order to make a money transfer from your savings account to the home loan account, you need to be registered for the SBI Net Banking service.
Step 1: Log in to the SBI Net Banking portal using your credentials.
Step 2: Click on the ‘Payments/Transfers’ tab on the top of the home page.
Step 3: A new screen will appear. Click on the ‘Funds Transfer (Own SBI A/c)’ option under the ‘Within SBI’ section.
Step 4: A list of your SBI accounts will be displayed. Select the home loan account number from the list.
Step 5: Enter the loan amount you would like to transfer and select the purpose of the transfer from the drop-down menu.
Step 6: Select the payment option as to when you would like to make the transfer, i.e. whether you want to pay instantly or schedule for a later time.
Step 7: Click on the ‘Submit’ button.
Step 8: All the details you have entered will be displayed on the screen. Verify the details and click ‘Confirm’ if everything looks correct.
Step 9: A success message will appear. The money will be debited from your savings account and be credited to your loan account.

You can make an inter bank transfer by following the steps mentioned below:
You need to have an SBI account at a branch. You will need to register for the Internet banking service at the branch. The branch will give you a Pre Printed Kit (PPK) with your username and password for your first login.
In case you are unable to collect the PPK in person, the bank can send the username to you via SMS and a mailer containing the password to your registered address. You will need to log in to www.onlinesbi.com using this username and password. During your first login, you will have to complete a simple initialisation process. A net banking assistant from the SBI Bank will assist you step-by-step throughout this process on the site.
If you happen to forget your internet banking username, you have to visit your home branch and request for re-registration.
The good practices to create a password for your internet banking account are:
The username and password sent to you by courier are system-generated and it is mandatory for you to change them on your first login. Later, you can only change the password and not the username.
For any queries/complaints you have regarding SBI online banking, you can call on the toll-free number 1800-112-211.
In case you’re a single account holder with an ATM card and a registered mobile number, your registration and activation will be almost instant. In case, you are a joint account holder, you will need to approach the nearest branch for creating the required credentials.
