Aadhaar PVC Card - Features, Application Process, Benefits

Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). It shows the proof of identity for Indian residents and is linked to your basic details and biometrics. Over the years, UIDAI has introduced various Aadhaar formats to make it more accessible, including the Aadhaar Letter, eAadhaar, and mAadhaar. The Aadhaar PVC Card is the latest option introduced by UIDAI. Made of durable PVC (polyvinyl chloride), it’s designed to fit easily into your wallet, just like a credit or debit card.

In this article, you will learn about what the Aadhaar PVC Card is, it's benefits, key security features, how to apply for it, and how you can track your application status with ease.

What is Aadhaar PVC Card?

The new Aadhaar PVC Card is a sturdier and more durable alternative to the regular Aadhaar card. Made from PVC (polyvinyl chloride), it is weatherproof and tear-resistant. Sized like an ATM card, it can easily fit into your wallet. The card contains the same basic details and 12-digit Aadhaar number as the original, but now with security features such as a hologram, QR code, and micro text issued by UIDAI to prevent misuse. This makes the PVC card equally valid and reliable as the traditional Aadhaar card.

You can order it online through the UIDAI website or on the mAadhaar app by paying ₹50, and it gets delivered to your registered address by India Post.
