An Aadhaar serves as a proof of identification for an individual. A unique Aadhaar Number is issued to the residents of India who apply for an Aadhaar. The Aadhaar number, which is issued to an individual is a 12-digit random number. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is the Government Authority which issues Aadhaar.

The latest form of Aadhar introduced by the UIDAI is the Aadhaar PVC Card. UIDAI has allowed Aadhaar reprint on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) cards which the individuals can obtain by applying/raising a request on the UIDAI website.
An individual can choose to have any form of Aadhaar as per his/her convenience. All the forms of Aadhaar are recognised as proof of identity without giving preference to one form over the other.

How To Apply For The Aadhaar PVC Card?
The new Aadhaar PVC Card can be ordered online. The process of ordering online is stated below –
Step 1: Visit the Official Aadhaar Website and click on ‘Order Aadhaar PVC’ under the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab.
Step 2: Enter your ‘Aadhaar Number’ or ‘Virtual ID’ number or ‘EID’ number. Enter the ‘Security Code’ and click on the ‘Send OTP’ or ‘Send TOTP’ button. Click on ‘Send TOTP’ to receive Time-Based-One-Time-Password (TOTP) on your mobile. Enter the OTP received on your mobile number. Choose the ‘Terms and Conditions’ box and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
Note: You can order your Aadhaar PVC card by using your registered mobile number or alternate mobile number to receive OTP. If you don’t have a registered mobile number, then tick the box ‘My Mobile number is not registered’ and then enter your mobile number and click on ‘Send OTP’ or ‘Send TOTP’ button.
Step 3: The preview of your Aadhar Details will appear on your screen. Verify the details and click the ‘Make Payments’ button.
Note: The preview of your Aadhar Details is not available if your mobile number is not registered.
Step 4: Choose payment options. Click on ‘Cards (Credit/Debit)’ for payment through credit/debit card. Click on ‘Net Banking’ for payment through your Net Banking. Click on ‘UPI’ for payment through the UPI system. The amount payable for obtaining Aadhaar PVC Card is Rs.50.
Step 5: Your payment receipt is generated. You can download the receipt in pdf form by clicking on the ‘Download Payment Receipt’ button.
UIDAI will hand over the Aadhaar PVC card to the Department of Post within five working days after receiving the request/order, and it will be sent by speed post to the individual.
How To Check The Status Of Your Application?
After placing an order for your Aadhaar PVC card, you can check the status of your request by following the below steps –
Step 1: Visit the Official Aadhaar Website and click on ‘Check Aadhaar PVC Card Status’ under the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab.
Step 2: Enter your ‘Aadhaar Number’ and the ‘Security Code’. Click on the ‘Send OTP’ or ‘Send TOTP’ button. Click on ‘Send TOTP’ to receive Time-Based-One-Time-Password (TOTP) on your mobile. Enter the OTP received on your mobile number. Choose the ‘Terms and Conditions’ box and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
Note: If you do not have a registered mobile number, then tick the box ‘My Mobile number is not registered’ and then enter your mobile number and click on ‘Send OTP’ or ‘Send TOTP’ button.
Step 3: The ‘SRN Number’ of your request and the ‘Status’ is displayed. You can download the acknowledgement slip by clicking on the ‘Download Acknowledgement Slip’ button.

- What are the different forms of Aadhaar?
There are four different forms of Aadhaar issued by the UIDAI. They are Aadhaar letter, eAadhaar, mAadhaar and Aadhaar PVC card. - How many days will it take to receive the Aadhaar PVC card?
After completing the application process on the Official Aadhaar Website, the UIDAI will give the physical Aadhaar PVC card to the Department of Post (DoP) within five working days of the receipt of the request. It excludes the date on which the request is made for obtaining the Aadhaar PVC card. It will then be delivered to the individual through the Speed Post service of the Department of Post. The delivery status of the Aadhaar PVC card can be tracked using DoP Status Track Services.
- What are the charges to be paid for the Aadhaar PVC card?
To receive the Aadhaar PVC card, Rs.50 is charged, which includes GST and speed post charges. The payment is made online while applying for the Aadhaar PVC card.
- Can I request for the Aadhaar PVC card if I don’t have a registered mobile number?
Yes. While applying for the Aadhaar PVC card, there is an option provided ‘My Mobile number is not registered’. If you do not have a registered mobile number, check this box and enter your non-registered / alternate mobile number and click on ‘Send OTP’. You will receive the OPT on your non-registered / alternate mobile number. Enter the OTP and continue the application process.
- What is the SRN number?
SRN is a 28 digit Service Request Number (SRN) which is generated after you finish the process of raising a request for the Aadhaar PVC card. You can view the SRN on your payment receipt. It is generated every time you raise a request irrespective of whether payment is successful or not. It is also displayed at the time of checking your request/application status.
- Can I change the details before ordering the Aadhaar PVC card?
Yes. When you raise a request for issuance of the Aadhaar PVC card, a preview of your Aadhaar PVC card will be displayed along with your details. The preview is displayed provided your mobile number is registered. If there are any changes in the details, then you can click the ‘Cancel’ button and go back. You can change the details on your Aadhaar letter or Aadhaar card by visiting the Permanent Enrollment Center or SSUP portal. After the change in details, you can apply for the Aadhaar PVC card.
