Aadhaar link to mobile number cannot be done entirely online, as UIDAI mandates biometric verification at an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Thus, follow this step-by-step process for linking Aadhaar to mobile number:
Step 1: Collect the Aadhaar update form from the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or the Aadhaar Seva Kendra. You can locate your nearest centre from the UIDAI website.
Step 2: Enter the required information on the form, including your mobile number. Mention on the form that only your phone number needs to be updated. Alternatively, you can also download the form from the UIDAI website.
Step 3: Submit the form to the Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or the Aadhaar Seva Kendra along with a photocopy of your Aadhaar card.
Step 4: Next, verify your thumb impression and biometrics, which will be matched with those recorded during the Aadhaar application process.
Step 5: The officer will give you an acknowledgement slip containing the Unique Request Number (URN). The update should take place within ten to thirty days.
You can check the status of your Aadhaar card linking with your mobile number on the UIDAI website, the mAadhaar app, the UMANG app, or by visiting an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or an Aadhaar Seva Kendra.

Follow the process below to book an appointment for Aadhaar link to mobile number:
Step 1: Visit the UIDAI website.
Step 2: Navigate to the ‘My Aadhaar’ section and click ‘Book an Appointment’ under the ‘Get Aadhaar’ heading.
Step 3: Log in to the ‘Appointment Portal’ by entering your name, mobile number/ email, captcha code and OTP.
Step 4: Click on the ‘Centre Appointment’ tab and select your age group and service. Click ‘Proceed for Centre Selection’.
Step 5: Enter the Pincode of a nearby Aadhaar Seva Kendra location and click ‘Search by Pincode’. Entering your residential Pincode may not show any results if no centre is available in your locality.
Step 6: The Aadhaar Seva Kendra address will be displayed on a tab. Click on the ‘Book’ button on the tab.
Step 7: Select the date and time and click on the ‘Selected’ button.
Step 8: A pop-up window will appear showing the disclosures of Aadhaar services. Give your confirmation by clicking on ‘Confirm and Proceed’.
Step 9: Enter the basic details, review the appointment and proceed to payment. You will receive an acknowledgement slip containing the appointment details.
Step 10: Visit the Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or Aadhaar Seva Kendra at the time of your appointment, obtain the Aadhaar update form and complete your biometrics verification to link Aadhaar to mobile number.
You cannot link a mobile number to an Aadhaar card online. You can follow the steps provided above to book an appointment online at an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or Aadhaar Seva Kendra, and then visit the centre to provide your biometric information and link your Aadhaar to your mobile number.
Previously, you could link mobile number to Aadhaar card online through the Indian Postal Service website by following the steps below. Now, this service is discontinued.
Step 1: Go to the Indian Postal Service website.
Step 2: Enter details- your name, address, Pincode, mobile number, and email address.
Step 3: Under ‘Service’, choose ‘PPB- Aadhaar Service’ from the drop-down menu.
Step 4: Select ‘UIDAI-Mobile/Email to Aadhaar linking/update’.
Step 5: Fill in all the necessary fields. Click on the ‘Request OTP’ button and enter the OTP.
Step 6: Click on ‘Confirm Service Request’. You will receive a reference number to track your application status.
Step 7: The service request will be sent to the post office. An officer will visit your address, verify using a mobile biometric device and complete the update/linking process.
Note: This option on the Indian Postal Service website is no longer active. Thus, you can only link Aadhaar to mobile number by visiting Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
Earlier, Aadhaar could be linked with mobile number through IVRS by calling 14546 by following the below steps. However, this method is discontinued now.
Step 1: Dial the IVRS number - ‘14546’ from your mobile number.
Step 2: Verify if you are a resident or a non-resident. Press 1 to confirm if you are a resident.
Step 3: Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number.
Step 4: The system will repeat the last four digits of your Aadhaar number. Confirm your Aadhaar by pressing 1.
Step 5: Enter your registered mobile number. You will receive an OTP from the UIDAI to your mobile number.
Step 6: A consent message will be played on your phone to allow the telecom operator to use your name, photo, and date of birth as recorded in the UIDAI database. Confirm it and proceed.
Step 7: Enter the OTP and press 1 to complete the mobile number and Aadhaar re-verification process.
Note: The IVRS service is no longer active, and the only way to link Aadhaar with mobile number is through an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or an Aadhaar Seva Kendra.

Step 5: Within 30 days, your mobile number will be updated in the Aadhaar database, and the new mobile number will be linked with your Aadhaar card.
