Domicile Certificate in Haryana: How To Apply Online, Download, Documents Required, Validity, Status Check

A Haryana domicile certificate indicates that an individual is a resident of Haryana state. The state government issues the domicile certificate Haryana to the citizens based on their continuous residence in Haryana. The Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of the concerned sub-division or the deputy commissioner of the concerned district issues the domicile certificate.

Domicile certificate eligibility in Haryana

  • Applicants or their parents must reside in Haryana for at least 15 years. 
  • When a woman is married and is not a resident of Haryana, her husband should be a resident of Haryana for 15 years.

How to apply for a domicile certificate in Haryana?

Eligible applicants can apply for a Haryana domicile/resident certificate online or offline.

How to get a domicile certificate online in Haryana?

Step 1: Visit the SARAL Haryana portal.

Step 2: Click on the ‘New user? Register here’ option on the homepage.

Step 3: Fill in the Registration form details and click the ‘Submit’ button.

Step 4: Log in to the SARAL Haryana portal by entering the User ID and Password.

Step 5: Click the ‘Apply for Services’ option from the ‘Menu’ bar.

Step 6: Search for the ‘Haryana Resident Certificate’ option from the list and click the ‘Apply’ button.

Step 7: Fill in the details, upload the required documents and click ‘Submit’.

Step 8: After submitting the application, applicants will get an ‘Application Reference ID’, which is required to check the application status. 

How to get a domicile certificate offline in Haryana?

Applicants can collect the domicile certificate application form from their nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) or the Tahsildar office. They must fill out the application, attach the required documents and submit the form. The respective authorities will verify the form and documents and provide an ‘Application Reference ID’. 

Documents required for domicile certificate in Haryana

  • Identity proof, any one of the below:
  • Resident/address proof, any one of the below:
    • Passport 
    • Voter ID 
    • Current electricity bill
  • Pre-verification report from the Nambardar or Sarpanch and Patwari when the applicants reside in rural areas
  • Pre-verification report from the ward member and EO (Estate Officer), ZTO (Zonal Taxation Officer) or secretary of the municipal corporation when the applicants reside in the urban areas

How to check domicile certificate status online in Haryana?

Below is the process to check the domicile certificate application status online:

  • Visit the SARAL Haryana portal.
  • Click on the ‘Track Application/Appeal’ option on the homepage.
  • Select the department as ‘Revenue & Disaster Management Department’ from the drop-down list.
  • Select the service as ‘Resident Certificate’.
  • Enter the ‘Application Reference ID’ and click the ‘Check Status’ button.
  • The status of the application will be displayed on the screen.

Applicants can also check the domicile certificate status through SMS. Applicants must type ‘SARAL’ and send it to ‘9954699899’ to track the application status from the registered mobile.

When the mobile number is not registered on the SARAL Haryana portal, applicants can send ‘SARAL<space><Application ID/Ticket No.>’ and send it to 9954699899 to track the application status from any mobile number.

The Haryana domicile certificate is valid for lifelong.

How many days are required to get a domicile certificate in Haryana?

It takes around seven working days for the state government to issue the domicile certificate in Haryana.

Is a domicile certificate compulsory in Haryana?

Individuals residing in Haryana must compulsorily produce the Haryana domicile certificate as proof of residency in the following circumstances:

  • While taking admission to educational institutions where local residents are given preference.
  • While applying for government jobs under the residence quota.
  • While applying for a ration card.
  • To receive benefits under government schemes.
  • To get scholarships in state educational institutions.
