A domicile certificate proves the person's residential status in a state. The Bihar domicile certificate indicates that an individual is a permanent resident of Bihar state. The domicile certificate in Bihar is required to avail benefits of various Bihar government schemes. The Circle Officer, Village Administrative Officer (VAO) or Revenue Inspector issues the domicile certificate in Bihar.
A domicile certificate is an essential legal document to avail of several benefits given to Bihar state residents. Thus, a Bihar domicile certificate is compulsory for the following persons:
Eligible applicants can apply for Bihar domicile certificates either online or offline.
Step 1: Visit the official website of RTPS.
Step 2: Click the ‘Apply Online’ tab and select the ‘RTPS Services’ option.
Step 3: Select the 'General Administration Department' option, click on the 'Issuance of Residence Certificate' option, and select the 'Block Level' option.
Step 4: Fill out the ‘Application Form for issuance of Residence Certificate from Revenue Officer Level’ and click the ‘Proceed’ button.
Step 5: Check the application form preview and click the ‘Submit’ button.
Applicants will get an application reference number to track the status of the domicile certificate application.
Applicants should visit the Circle Officer, Village Administrative Officer (VAO) or Revenue Inspector and collect the domicile certificate application form. They must fill out the form and submit it along with the required documents and processing fees at the respective Right to Public Service (RTPS) counters. The authorities will verify the details and provide the application reference number for future reference.
It takes around 15 days to process and issue the Bihar domicile certificate by the concerned authority.
The Bihar domicile certificate is valid for only six months, after which it can be renewed.
