Latest Update:

The EPFO has prolonged the UAN-Aadhaar linking deadline until March 31, 2024. Individuals can opt to link these two either through online or offline, based on their convenience. The government had mandated the linking of the Universal Account Number (UAN) with the Aadhaar card number by April 2023.

If you want to withdraw funds from your PF account, it is important to link your Employee Provident Fund (EPF) account with your Aadhaar number. This is one of many benefits of linking your EPF account with your Aadhaar number. Just like how Aadhaar number recognises an Aadhar card, Universal Account Number (UAN) identifies an EPF account.

Linking your Aadhaar with the Provident Fund(PF) account is now mandatory

Linking aadhaar to UAN will facilitate faster withdrawals and a quick transfer process. But to avail these faster services, it is important that your details are verified by your employer. After submitting, you can check for these details under the 'pending KYC' option.

If you want to file an online claim of your EPF, then it is mandatory to seed your UAN with Aadhaar. Also, your employer will be able to file Employee-cum-Return (ECR) challans and deposit funds to your EPF account only if your PF account is linked to your Aadhaar card.

The linking can be done either online on the EPFO portal or offline.

3 Ways to Link Aadhaar With Your EPF Account

  • Using the official EPFO portal.
  • Using the Umang app.
  • By visiting the nearest EPFO office

The employee needs to follow the steps mentioned below to link his/her PF to his/her Aadhaar:

Step 1: Login to the Unified Portal of Employees’ Provident Fund and click on ‘For employees’, followed by ‘UAN Member e-Sewa’

After submitting, you can find these details under the ‘Pending KYC’ tab. Once approved by the employer (which would generally take 15 days), it will be shown under the ‘Approved KYC’ tab.

Linking your Aadhaar to the EPF account will help in a faster withdrawal and transfer process and for that, the present employer should have approved and verified the KYC including the employee’s Aadhaar details.

Linking of Aadhaar With PF Account Through Offline Mode

  2. An employee has to attach self-attested copies of his/her UAN, PAN, and Aadhaar with this form.
  3. An employee has to submit these documents at the field offices of EPFO or Common Services Centres (CSC).
  4. Once the verification is completed, the Aadhaar number will be linked to the employee’s EPF account. After that, the employee will receive a message on his/her registered mobile number.
