The government has made it mandatory to link your Aadhaar with provident fund (PF) account by 31st March 2018. The employee needs to ensure that the Unique Account Number (UAN) must be linked with Aadhaar so as to make PF linked to it. The linking can be done through online as well as offline mode.
Linking of Aadhaar with PF account through online mode
The employee needs to follow the below-mentioned steps to link his PF to his Aadhaar:
Step 1: Login to the Unified Portal of Employees’ Provident Fund (https://unifiedportal.epfindia.gov.in/) and click on ‘For employees’, followed by ‘UAN Member e-Sewa’
Step 2: Enter UAN and password to log in to the portal.
Step 3: Click on ‘Manage’ at the top panel and then on ‘KYC’
Step 4: On the next page, under ‘Add KYC’ tab, provide your bank, PAN and Aadhaar, passport, driving license, election card and ration card details and then click on ‘submit’. Once submitted, you can find those details under ‘Pending KYC’ tab. Once approved by the employer (which would generally take 15 days), it will be shown under ‘Approved KYC’ tab.
Linking of your Aadhaar to EPF account will help in faster withdrawal and transfer process and for that, the present employer should have approved and verified the KYC including the employee’s Aadhaar details.
Linking of Aadhaar with PF account through offline mode
EPFO has also provided the facility to link the Aadhaar number with EPF account offline. The EPF has developed an Aadhaar Linking Application and the employee will have to fill in the application form along with his UAN and Aadhaar number with other required information.
The employee needs to attach self-attested copies of his UAN, PAN, and Aadhaar with this form. These documents need to be submitted at the field offices of EPFO or Common Services Centres (CSC). Once the verification is completed, the Aadhaar number will be linked to EPF account and once this linking is done, the employee will receive a message on his registered mobile number.
