Domicile Certificate Gujarat: How To Apply Online, Download, Documents Required, Validity, Status Check

A domicile certificate is legal proof certifying that an individual resides in a particular state. The Gujarat domicile certificate is essential to claim the benefits and rights in Gujarat state. The Gujarat State Government provides the domicile certificate Gujarat to the residents of Gujarat state. This certificate proves that an individual continuously dwelled in a particular town, village or ward and intends to make Gujarat the permanent residence.

Domicile certificate eligibility in Gujarat

  • All individuals born in Gujarat and residing in Gujarat for at least ten years.
  • The wife and minor children of Gujarat residents who are residing in Gujarat.
  • Any individual having land or immovable property in Gujarat. Such individuals should have the Record of Rights (RoR) for the property.
  • A woman belonging to another state but married a permanent resident of Gujarat.
  • All persons or family members who were in regular government service of Gujarat.

How to apply for a domicile certificate in Gujarat?

Gujarat domicile certificate can be obtained online or offline.

How to get a domicile certificate online in Gujarat?

Step 1: Visit the Digital Gujarat website.

Step 2: Click the ‘Services’ tab and select the ‘Citizen Services’ option.

Step 3: Click on the ‘Domicile Certificate’ tab.

Step 4: Read the instructions and click the ‘Apply Online’ button.

Step 5: Click the ‘New Registration (Citizen)’ button when applying on the Digital Gujarat website for the first time.

Step 6: Enter the details such as mobile number, email, and password and click the ‘Save’ button.

Step 7: Enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number and click the ‘Confirm’ button.

Step 8: Enter the details, such as full name and address, upload a photograph and click the ‘Update’ button.

Step 9: Enter the required details on the ‘Citizen Profile’ form and click the ‘Update’ button.

Step 10: Click on the ‘Request a New Service’ option.

Step 11: Click the ‘Domicile Certificate’ option and the ‘Continue To Service’ button.

Step 12: The ‘Request ID’ and ‘Application Number’ will be displayed on the screen. Click the ‘Continue’ button.

Step 13: Enter the required details, upload the documents, select the checkbox and click the ‘Submit’ button.

Citizens will get an SMS upon submission of the application along with the application number. 

How to get a domicile certificate offline in Gujarat?

Step 1: Visit the Digital Gujarat website.

Step 2: Click the ‘Services’ tab and select the ‘Citizen Services’ option.

Step 3: Click on the ‘Domicile Certificate’ tab.

Step 4: Read the instructions and click the ‘Download’ button.

Step 5: Take a printout of the downloaded form.

Step 6: Fill out the form, attach the documents and submit it to the Tahsildar Office or Jana Seva Kendra.

The Tahsildar Office or Jana Seva Kendra will give the application number, which is useful for knowing the application status and downloading the domicile certificate.

Documents required for domicile certificate in Gujarat

  • Residence proof, any one of the below:
    • Ration card
    • Electricity, telephone or water bill (not older than three months)
    • Election card
    • Passport
    • The first page of the bank passbook or cancelled cheque
    • Post office account statement or passbook
    • Driving license
    • Government photo ID card or service photo identity card issued by PSU
  • Identity proof, any one of the below:
    • Election card
    • Income tax PAN card
    • Passport
    • Aadhaar card
    • Driving license
    • Government photo ID card or service photo identity card issued by PSU
    • Other government documents having citizen photo
    • Photo ID issued by a recognised educational institution
  • Service attachment proof, any one of the below:
    • Proof of parent’s business or job
    • Domicile by birth, i.e. birth certificate
    • Certificate of Talati.
    • No objection certificate from a police station
    • Character certificate
    • Affidavit
    • Last ten years’ residence proof
    • Panchnamu

How many days are required to get a domicile certificate in Gujarat?

After submission of the application, it takes around 15 working days to get a domicile certificate in Gujarat.

How to check domicile certificate status online in Gujarat?

Applicants can check the status of their domicile application online by logging in to the Digital Gujarat website user dashboard. They should enter the application number issued to them while applying to check the status of the domicile certificate application.

Applicants can download the Gujarat domicile certificate from the application number issued while applying. They should log in to the Digital Gujarat website and use the download issued document option to get the domicile certificate.

  • To obtain the ration card in Gujarat.
  • To apply for state government jobs where residents are preferred.
