Permanent Account Number (PAN) is the 10-digit alphanumeric code which is unique to every individual and non-individual. It is a nationalised identity card. This ID card is essential for any financial transaction and activities, such as paying taxes and filing ITR. Certain fees and charges are required to apply for a PAN card or make any amends to it.
The PAN card fees vary depending on whether you require a physical PAN card or not and the mode of submission of the PAN card application. The PAN card fees for Indian addresses are provided in the table below:

You can pay the PAN card fee offline through any PAN centre. Here is the step-by-step procedure:
Step 1: Download the PAN card application form or Form 49A from the Protean TIN website. You can also get this copy from the agents at the TIN-FC or PAN centre of Protean/UTIITSL office.
Step 2: Fill out the form and attach supporting documents such as ID proof, photograph, etc.
Step 3: Submit the application and documents to the TIN-FC or PAN centre of Protean/UTIITSL office and pay the processing fee.
Step 4: The PAN card will be sent to your address within 15 working days.
You can pay the PAN card fee online while applying for the PAN card online. Here is the step-wise procedure:
Step 1: Visit the NSDL website or UTIITSL website.
Step 2: Choose Form 49A and fill it out with the required details.
Step 3: Submit the duly filled form and pay the processing fee online.
Step 4: After processing, you will receive an acknowledgement receipt.
Step 5: e-sign your application using Aadhaar OTP authentication. Alternatively, you can send your application along with the documents to the NSDL/UTIITSL office within 15 days of submitting your application online.
Step 6: After NSDL or UTIITSL verification, you will receive the PAN card at your address within 15 working days.

The mode of payment differs upon the applicants’ residential status.
If you are residing within India, you have the option to pay the fee via debit card, credit card, net banking, and demand draft. However, it should be noted that for payments made through cards, debit or credit, an additional 2.00% charge will be applicable by the respective bank.
Any payment made through demand draft should only be made in favour of “NSDL-PAN”, payable at Mumbai. Otherwise, the DD will not be accepted.
For payments made via net banking, a surcharge of Rs.4 + Service tax will be applicable.
Residents outside India can make payments via the same modes, which are demand draft, debit card, credit card, and net banking. However, they have to pay the applicable conversion or exchange rate levied by the respective bank.
There are no charges applicable for e-PAN cards. It is completely free of cost.
