Recently, UIDAI has set up multiple channels for handling customer grievances. Amongst these, most citizens prefer to call the Aadhaar Card customer care toll-free number for any concerns related to the Aadhaar. This toll-free number renders efficient grievance redressal services. Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the statutory body to regulate Aadhaar card and related services in India, has introduced 24X7 IVR (Interactive voice response) services. With this service, you can call UIDAI’s toll-free number, 1947 to get information related to your Aadhaar card. 

With IVR services, you can locate Aadhaar enrolment centres, know your enrolment/update status, know your complaint status, etc.

Aadhaar Card Grievance Redressal Channels

You can file an Aadhaar-related complaint primarily through the following channels: 

  • Through Email: You can address your issue relating to Aadhaar by sending an email to help@uidai.gov.in. 
  • Through Post and Contact Centre: You can send your queries via post by sending a letter to the headquarters of UIDAI or any regional centres. UIDAI has also established a customer call centre to resolve all your queries and concerns about Aadhaar enrolment, updates and other services.
  • Through Toll-free number: As discussed, you can call 1947 for any concerns. Also, you can place a call to the regional centres mentioned above.
  • Through Chatbot (Aadhaar Mitra): Another application is available on UIDAI’s Official website (www.uidai.gov.in). The Central Government recently introduced a new AI/ML-based chatbot known as Aadhaar Mitra that offers different services. This includes filing a complaint, checking PVC card order status, checking Aadhaar enrolment or update status, locating Aadhaar centres, etc.

Steps To File a Complaint Online Through UIDAI’s Portal

Apart from the channels mentioned above, you can directly complain or place a query through UIDAI's Public Grievance Portal. However, it is essential to note that to get access to this portal for registering a complaint, it is imperative to become a registered user. 

If you are not a registered user, you must fill out the registration or sign-up form. Here is the step-by-step guide for the user login process and filing a complaint: 

1. Go to the Public Grievance Portal of UIDAI, https://pgportal.gov.in/ 

2. As per your preference, select the respective language.

3. Enter the necessary information like username/mobile number/email ID and then your password.

4. Enter the captcha code displayed on the screen and click on the ‘Login’ option.

5. After successful login, click on ‘Grievances Redressal' on the main tab and select 'File a Complaint'.

6. Then, type the date and time in DD/MM/YYYY format for seconds, minutes or hours, and your 14-digit enrolment ID.

7. Fill in the necessary details like name, email address, contact details, pin code, etc. 

8. Select the type of complaint that you wish to file and enter all details of your complaint.

9. Type in the security code and file your complaint.

If you are an Aadhaar card holder, you have the right to file complaints relating to Aadhaar through various channels. You can send queries or make a complaint through their toll-free number, via post, chatbot, and so on. Make sure to note down your complaint acknowledgement number/service request number.
