As per the Aadhaar Enrolment and Update Regulations, 2016, individuals with an Aadhaar card must update their proof of identity and address documents upon completion of every ten years from the Aadhaar enrollment date.

Accordingly, the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has been urging people for an Aadhaar card update, i.e., an update of Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) documents, if they have not done so in the previous ten years. Updating the Aadhaar card documents will help curb Aadhaar-related fraud and provide accurate demographic information.

Key Highlights

  • The last date for free online Aadhaar update on the myAadhaar portal is 14 June 2025; after that, a fee applies.
  • Updates can be done online via myAadhaar portal with a Service Request Number (SRN) to track status.
  • Post 14 June, 2025, offline updates at Aadhaar centres cost Rs.50, while online updates cost Rs. 25.
  • Documents required include Passport, PAN, Voter ID, marriage certificate, utility bills, bank statements, etc.
