Here are other important details you need to know about SBI’s demand drafts:
To issue a demand draft with SBI, the following information has to be entered:
ii. Validity
Demand drafts are valid for up to 3 months from the date of their issuance. Afterwards, the DD becomes invalid. The SBI DD charge for revalidation is currently ₹200 plus GST.
iii. Issuance Process
Demand Drafts (DDs) can be issued at any SBI branch or through SBI Net Banking. The draft may be collected from a branch or delivered to the registered address for an additional courier fee. DDs can be issued from eligible Savings, Current, Cash Credit, or Overdraft Accounts. A reference number and issuance advice are provided upon successful processing.
iv. Cancellation Process
SBI Demand Drafts cannot be cancelled online. Cancellation must be requested at an SBI branch by submitting the original DD. For cash-purchased DDs, the original draft and receipt are required, while account-funded DDs require a DD cancellation form along with the original draft. Applicable SBI DD cancellation charges will be deducted before the refund is processed. Refunds may be difficult to obtain without the original demand draft.
